5. What is repentance?

As we look at repentance we need to move beyond the Biblical Hebrew context of just returning to the Lord with sorrow and being spared from Godís judgment. Repentance under the New Covenant is having a new insight on an issue and because of a different understanding, we can choose to think, act and behave differently. It is similar to having lived our life one-way, we make a decision to start living differently.

The most remarkable change of perspective occurs when the Holy Spirit brings a revelation on a specific event. The revelation is so impressive that an instant change takes place in the attitude, emotions and behaviour. But at other times that change may take a little longer requiring purposeful decisions and positive actions.
